On 12 October 2017, the National Commission for Data Protection (Commission nationale pour la protection des données, or CNPD) announced the launch of a tool allowing businesses, public administrations and associations who process personal data to assess their compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation, which will come into force on 25 May 2018.
This tool, the “GDPR Compliance Support Tool”, is available now on the CNPD website, and is free of charge.
The GDPR Compliance Support Tool contains a comprehensive, detailed database encompassing more than 350 criteria for regulatory requirements.
In practical terms, it would allow users to:
- check their compliance with the various regulatory requirements introduced by the GDPR (e.g. appointment of a DPO, establishment of an impact analysis, keeping a record of processing activities, etc.),
- manage a record of processing activities, as well as all the other documents required to demonstrate their responsibility, and
- monitor how their organisations are maturing.
