The 2018-2020 Collective Bargaining Agreement (“CBA”) for bank employees agreed between the ABBL and the trade unions ALEBA, OGB-L and LCGB-SESF, has been declared as a general obligation for the whole sector by the Grand Ducal Regulation of 9 November 2018 (hereinafter referred to as “the GDR”).

The GDR, which was published in Mémorial A n°1064 of 23 November 2018, stipulates that the general obligation declaration comes into effect on the date on which the 2018-2020 CBA for bank employees comes into force.

As a reminder, the new CBA, signed on 12 July 2018, has been agreed for a period of 3 years, so from 1 January 2018 until 31 December 2020. The CBA fundamentally changes the previously applicable provisions and stipulates that some provisions will come into force gradually over the course of 3 years.

The main changes to the 2018-2020 CBA are summed up in our Newsflash of 27 July 2018 - New 2018-2020 CEA for bank employees.
