According to a press release issued by the Ministry for Social Security on 14 December 2020, the amicable agreement on social security affiliation for cross-border workers who are working remotely applicable until 31 December 2020 (see our Newsflash of 27 August 2020) has been extended with Belgium, Germany and France until 30 June 2021.
As a result, the days worked remotely in connection with the Covid-19 crisis will continue not to be taken into account when determining the applicable social security legislation for cross-border German, French and Belgian workers until 30 June 2021, in order to avoid a change in terms of affiliation when the 25% threshold stipulated in European legislation has been exceeded for the workers in question.
