According to the STATEC press release dated 24 December 2019, the provisional result of the national consumer price index (“indice des prix à la consommation national” or IPCN) for December 2019 was 1.7%, thus triggering a new indexation.

On the basis of this announcement, the new sliding wage scale index for salaries will go from 814.40 points to 834.76 points on 1 January 2020, resulting in a 2.5% rise in wages, salaries and pensions as of this date.

The consumer price index for December will officially be published according to STATEC on 10 January 2020, after the monthly meeting of the Index Committee.

A detailed Newsflash will be released after the official publication, specifying the impact of this indexing on the different thresholds and total amounts applicable to labour law (minimum social wage, trial period, non-competition clause, tax exemption threshold of the settlement indemnity etc.).
