COVID-19: introduction of the CovidCheck scheme in workplaces

08 Okt 2021

Thérèse Lallart

The Government on 8 October 2021 announced that from 1 November 2021, employers will be able to introduce the CovidCheck scheme in their workplace and make it compulsory for employees.

This scheme applies to both the private and public sectors, and would in principle allow a relaxation of health restrictions (no need for masks or social distancing) if implemented by the employer.

If there is no CovidCheck scheme in place, the Government stipulates that health restrictions will need to be maintained and adhered to.

Lateral flow tests will no longer be accepted from 1 November 2021, so if a CovidCheck scheme is introduced in the workplace, unvaccinated employees will need to present a certified test.

A bill must now be presented to the Chamber of Deputies for adoption by 18 October 2021. Further information will be provided then.
