A press release published by the Ministry of Finance on 22 September 2021 explains that Luxembourg and Belgium have agreed to extend until 31 December 2021 the amicable agreement on dealing with tax for cross-border workers who are working remotely within the context of the Covid-19 crisis, which was initially due to come to an end on 30 September 2021.
The days spent working remotely in accordance with the provisions of the agreement between Belgium and Luxembourg will continue not to be taken into account when calculating the tolerance threshold of 24 days applicable to taxation until 31 December 2021.
As a reminder, the amicable agreement concluded with Belgium on social security within the context of combating the spread of Covid-19 also continues to apply until 31 December 2021 (see our Newsflash of 2 September 2021).
